Get started
SIGNAL Touch turns an active iPhone or iPad touch surface into pointer and keyboard-shortcut control for one Mac at a time. The Mac companion requires macOS 14 or later. The mobile alpha is distributed through private TestFlight invitations.
- Download the notarized SIGNAL Touch Mac DMG from Downloads. Open it, drag SignalTouchMac.app into Applications, then open the app.
- Look for the companion in the Mac menu bar. It has no Dock icon. Open its panel, grant Accessibility access in macOS System Settings, and select Start Receiver.
- Keep SIGNAL Touch active on the iPhone or iPad. Choose the connector, select the Mac, enter its current six-digit pairing code and tap Pair with Mac.
- Move and tap inside the touch surface to test control. The Help button beside Settings opens the mobile guide; Help in the Mac menu bar panel opens companion guidance.

Pairing and reconnecting
A successful pairing saves the Mac and its authorization in Keychain. Disconnect stops control and retains the saved pairing. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are intended to share the same authorized Mac identity; switching connectors should not require authorizing it as a new device.
- For a previously paired Mac, choose its Reconnect or Connect action under Saved Macs. Make sure the receiver is running and select the connector you intend to use.
- After sleep or a network change, refresh the Mac list and retry before removing any saved pairing.
- If the receiver explicitly rejects the saved pairing, remove that saved Mac on the mobile device and pair again using the current code. The Mac command Forget Paired Devices deliberately revokes all saved devices. Use it only when you intend to revoke access.
- Mac upgrades should retain pairing when upgrading the existing installation. Cross-connector reconnect and persistence on your specific mobile devices still need physical alpha validation. Report repeated code prompts after an upgrade rather than routinely clearing authorization.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB network
- Wi-Fi: the devices must be on a reachable local network. Check the chosen connector, receiver status and local-network access if discovery fails.
- Bluetooth: this uses a custom Bluetooth Low Energy connection, not a Bluetooth HID trackpad. Keep both devices close enough, enable Bluetooth and select Bluetooth in Touch. Physical device behavior is still being qualified.
- USB network: this requires an actual iOS or iPadOS network interface, such as USB-C Ethernet or a supported USB Personal Hotspot link. A plain cable from a Wi-Fi-only iPad to the Mac is not a supported network connection in this build. USB network mode does not silently fall back to Wi-Fi.
- Security: Wi-Fi and USB network traffic is not encrypted in this alpha. Use trusted local networks. Pairing does not make an untrusted network safe.

Trackpad gestures
Keep Touch active and make gestures inside its touch surface. Check the Settings switches if an action is disabled.
- One finger moves the pointer; tap clicks. Hold, then move to drag. The left edge provides a precision area.
- Two fingers scroll or pinch for app zoom shortcuts. Two-finger tap defaults to right-click and can be changed to middle-click or disabled.
- Three-finger tap can middle-click. Three- or four-finger horizontal swipes switch Mac Spaces. Vertical swipes request Mission Control up or App Exposé down; Mac keyboard shortcut settings can change the result.
- Modifier buttons support keyboard-shortcut workflows. Native Force Click and trackpad haptics are not available.

Studio shortcuts
Open Studio at the top of the touch surface and choose a profile. The Mac target app must be frontmost. Controls send keyboard shortcuts; they do not read mixer, playback, scene, recording or streaming state.
- Logic Pro: Space for playback, Return for project start and C for Cycle. Custom key command sets can change these actions.
- MainStage: use Perform mode; Up and Down select patches. Test in a rehearsal concert first.
- OBS Studio: assign F13 and F14 to your two scenes in Settings > Hotkeys. Recording and streaming can use F15 and F16 and require confirmation in Touch. Test against a safe rehearsal setup before any live destination.
- Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve: Space for playback, J/K/L for reverse, stop and forward, and arrow keys for frame movement.
- If the Studio section is missing, check its section visibility switch in Settings. Do not rely on the alpha during a live or recording session.

Updates and saved authorization
Update the mobile app through TestFlight. On the Mac, use Check for Updates from the companion menu bar panel, or install the current signed, notarized DMG from Downloads over the existing application. Keep the same application identity to retain saved authorization.
The website download and update feed identify the currently published Mac version and build. Mobile and Mac builds may differ. Version 1.0.0 alone does not identify the exact build. A published feed and a working update dialog do not establish that an older agent has completed an automatic installation.
- Do not delete the app, clear Keychain or use Forget Paired Devices as a normal upgrade step. If pairing is lost after upgrading, report the old and new build numbers and connector.

Troubleshooting
- No Mac listed: confirm Start Receiver is active in the Mac menu bar panel. Match the selected connector to the available link, wake both devices and refresh discovery.
- Connected but no pointer control: check Accessibility permission for the companion, keep Touch active and test inside the touch surface.
- USB unavailable: verify a real network interface exists. A charging cable alone does not establish USB network transport.
- Gesture or Studio action does nothing: check the relevant Settings switch, the frontmost Mac app and that app’s shortcut assignments.
- Reconnect asks for a code repeatedly: retry the saved Mac after refresh, note receiver status on both devices, and report the connector and builds. Re-pair only if authorization was explicitly rejected.

Report a problem
Use Request Touch support below. This is an internal alpha: physical gesture behavior, Bluetooth, USB and reconnect combinations are still being qualified. Support guidance describes the current implementation, not completed hardware acceptance.
- Include iPhone/iPad model and OS, Mac model and macOS, and both apps’ version and build numbers.
- Name the connector and network arrangement, exact reproduction steps, expected behavior and actual behavior.
- Include discovery time and connection status on both devices, plus whether refresh or restarting the receiver helped.
- Never include passwords, pairing codes, Keychain contents or authorization tokens.
